A new report by the New Mexico Tourism Council is urging officials to ban sex tourism on the state’s new mexican tourism website, NewMexicoTours.
The council has received more than 100,000 comments on its website, which states that visitors should be wary of sex tourism because of its sexual and degrading nature.
“If visitors to New Mexico decide to engage in the sexual activity that New MexicoTours promotes, they risk violating our state’s criminal code,” the council said in a press release.
The council also urges New Mexico to consider creating a comprehensive and transparent state tourism policy that would include policies on safety, sex work, prostitution, underage drinking, and underage gambling.
New MexicoTourism is the first of a number of websites being rolled out in New Mexican states to combat sex tourism.
New Mexico’s tourism council has also set up an online platform for people to discuss and provide feedback on New Mexico tourism laws and policies.
The state has not made any specific policy on sex tourism but officials have been quick to point out that sexual acts are a part of life in New Mexicos and that sex work is illegal in the state.
